Luckily, just over a dozen insurance companies offer a variety of auto insurance options that furnish the necessary contents. To make the process easier for you, we’ve put together a quick companion about buying auto insurance in Thailand.
Crucial Points
When choosing auto insurance, there are 3 options. It can be either type 1, 2, or 3. Auto insurance offers introductory content similar to theft, third-party property damage, accidents, medical costs, fire or deluge, collision content, and particular injuries. Add-ons, pay-per-use, excess, no-claim perk, deductible, and motorist specification are some of the factors that can impact insurance costs either rising or going down.
What Are Your Car Insurance Options in Thailand?
You have two options when it comes to auto insurance in Thailand. These include mandatory third-party liability insurance and private insurance. All buses and motorcycles registered in Thailand need to have mandatory third-party liability insurance, which is also generally known as Por Ror Bor.
Mandatory Third-Party Auto Insurance (CTPL)
Also known as Por Ror Bor, CTPL is a type of insurance mandated by law for all vehicles in Thailand. It only provides introductory content on injury and death caused by accidents. You also need to renew it annually through the Department of Land Transportation, auto insurance companies, or a third-party agent. It’s typically bought in conjunction with the payment of a periodic auto duty.
Private Auto Insurance
Private auto insurance is much more flexible than CTPL, and it provides further content. Indeed, the most introductory policy includes content for third-party property. There are five types of private auto insurance in Thailand.Accidents, theft, and third-party property damage are all covered by Type 1 insurance, which is the most valuable. In this instance, type 3 insurance is the most affordable option, but it provides the least coverage. Each insurance company provides a different position of content at a different price. It’s essential to find a provider who can give you the content you need at a reasonable price.
Theft: You’ll be covered if your car is stolen. Still, if your vehicle is stolen due to your own neglectfulness, such as forgetting to lock it or parking it in a dangerous position, you may not be covered by the theft protection content. The insurance limit will also be grounded on the vehicle’s age.
Third Party Property Damage :This coverage covers the other motorist’s auto in the event of an accident. It’s most likely preferred by the policyholder because you’ll only have to worry about fixing your own vehicle after an accident rather than fussing about the other party.
